Update: I’ve had a lot of trackbacks come in referencing the first overhead picture, so I thought props would be appropriate. However, I don’t have a source for it – it was tweeted by @lizblaine, but it wasn’t clear if she took it herself.

I had read about the DC 9/12 rally, but I admit I didn’t think it would be a huge to-do. I got up this morning and got on Twitter, just out of curiosity, and I was flabbergasted at the at the turnout. Rumor has it they are over a million. And just imagine what it would be if times were better and more of us could afford to fly out there…

It’s going full throttle presently, and I figure pictures will do it more justice than anything I can write. I’m going to pull together pictures and video coming from the rally as it goes. I’ll be updating this post for the next couple of hours with images and tweets I collect from on the ground.

George Addresses today's Congress

Stacy McCain just called in with a bunch more protest signs spotted on The Mall:

  • Congress are you foolish enough to bet against our vote in 2010?
  • If you’re not outraged you’re not paying taxes.
  • Obamanomics – our dollars, no sense, trickle up poverty.
  • 2009 Intolerable Acts – Cap & Trade, Bailouts, Obamacare.

  10. My 70 year old father and 66 year old mother drove from Murphy, NC to DC for the march today. They never attended a protest in the 1960s and 70s. Now they have time on their hands and fire in their hearts. God Bless them and all the others like them who showed up in DC for the rest of us today.

  11. The march of hundreds of thousands or millions is outstanding; however, just think
of all those who couldn’t for one reason or another come to the event! There are
millions more at home whose heart is with those that marched. The tide is turning….
keep up the pressure…..and next year millions of us will be there with you!!!! We have time to plan and save for it…you betcha!

  15. This is Amazing.

A month later, and Americans are still talking about the 9/12 march like it was yesterday!

Think about that. Most lefty events are forgotten by the country, (and the participants) the next day. How many outside of san francisco are still talking about the gay rights march that happend a few days ago?

One of the highlights of my adult life will be marching down PA ave. elbow to elbow with the Americans that actually make this country work.

I was personally marching for a dozen friends who were there in spirit, and I know everyone there had friends and family who Wanted to be there.

9/12/09 will be known as the day when the wave of liberalism crashed into the Solid Bedrock of America, and began to roll back.

    Can’t wait till next year’s march! :o )
